Professional Development (Waiver) Day
The Ravenna School District Transportation Department, along with the Ravenna Fire Department, participated in safety training for professional development on the district's Waiver Day in February. Throughout the district, certified and classified employees participate in various training/professional development sessions twice a year. Transportation and fire department staff are pictured below during the recent safety training.
Our primary concern is for the safety and welfare of students while being transported. Safe, efficient transportation is a joint effort between the bus drivers, school staff, administrators, parents and students. We look forward to providing this service to our Ravenna families.
The Ravenna School District’s transportation department is housed at 703 Oakwood Street. The $500,000 transportation building features two large bays for bus maintenance and repair for the district’s 28 buses, an equipment room, and meeting and office space to accommodate 35 employees. The district was able to save $700,000 by renovating existing space at the former Ohio Department of Transportation complex instead of constructing a new building as originally planned. In addition, shared fuel storage space with the city will allow for more savings.
